..so..what's stopping you now ?...

Let's go back in time for just a while...look back a couple of years...maybe when you were six or seven years old...there's this simple word that kept you going..gave you all the experiences that you have today..helped you learn and adapt to new things in the strange world..ever wondered what that word was ?.... "Don't" - sounds ironic eh? but give it some thought......place yourself in the character "Sid" for the next few statements and see if it rings a bell...

"Sid, don't play with the knives they are dangerous"...did that stop you at age 6? remember hurting yourself with it...and then realised how and what to use knives for?..a lesson learnt...

"Sid, don't climb the walls/trees in the garden"...did that stop you at age 7? remember climbing the wall/tree?...maybe you fell down..hurt yourself..and then you figured how to climb the wall/tree and then you started getting better at it..another lesson learnt...

"Sid, don't play with fire"...did that stop you at age 8? remember poking your finger in to the candle flame just a little too long before crying out in pain..? you then understood what fire actually is..how it can hurt you and how you will handle yourself the next time there's a candle flame..yet another lesson learnt...

I could go on and on with many examples like this that are typical in every one of us in our childhood days...what I don't understand is the loss of independence as we grow up...isn't it meant to work the other way around?? Well I'm not talking about the physical aspect of independence but the mental aspect of it. In those younger years, the only implication of the phrase "Don't do it" was "Do it" that is how we learned to achieve, that is how we experienced new things, that is how we seeked our full potential, that is why we stand here today as adults! By now you should've realised what I'm talking about...think about the times you've wanted to do something grand..wanted to achieve something that seemed impossible..wanted to be someone that nobody else was..wanted to live your dream! The next thing you do is...talk to someone about it..who will, most of the time, laugh at your face and say "whooaa..u can't do that" and you actually stop to listen to what they have to say...what I'd say is...chuck those people out of your life! well not literally, but at occasional circumstances...

Through the years many opportunites arrive at your feet and most of the time we fail to seize them. Imagination, Innovation and Intelligence are three things that should come to mind when ever you say "I"...our Imagination can cross over all boundaries set by the real world..our Innovation allows us to step out of the box to look at what we imagined and our Intelligence helps us seek what we just innovated - if "I" am smart enough.."I" will use all of this to my advantage. People who don't have the psychological push to move forward..to stand out of the rest..to get out of their comfort zone..frequently use the words "can't do" "won't do" "don't do" not only on themselves but on others as well...why? it's a sort of self satisfaction they seek because when they know that someone listened to them..and is following them..they feel like they are still part of the majority of people so it is okay to be that way - never let anyone tell you what you can and can't do...you want answers...look for them inside you!

when you want to achieve…something that's part and parcel that clings on to the word 'achieve' is 'sacrifice' are you ready to make that sacrifice for the betterment of yourself and your future? sacrifices can demand many things from you but one key factor that you have to give away for a short while is 'comfort' - what ever you want, what ever you need...you'll find them just outside your comfort zone. Are you daring enough to step out?

If you want to do something big, now is the chance. Stop listening to the losers around you and stay focused on what you want for yourself! Go out there and achieve..go out there and shine..go out there and give it a shot...what's the worse thing that can happen if you don't succeed?...I guarantee 20 years down the line you will definitely look back and regret the things you didn't do...than what you did!

Here's one of my favourite clips about pursuing your dreams:

I hope this made some sense...but always remember what I mentioned in the previous post about making the right choices in life, do's and don'ts can be applied to everything good and everything bad...you make the right choice!...so...what's stopping you now?
